Course Description

The KPH Edith Stein offers initial and further training in teaching and social professions at its sites in Salzburg and Stams.

Salzburg

The course is dedicated to the acquisition of professional skills for teaching in primary schools.

This course equips the students with competence in planning, organizing and evaluating classes in primary schools. The student will be able to support and foster learning, to sense the special learning needs of pupils and to take on responsibility in the school sector. Evaluation of and constant research in developing teaching practices form a great part of the students' training.

The final bachelor thesis and its defensio guarantee a close connection of theory and practise.

Admission requirements

A-levels or corresponding Certificate of General Educational Development (can be taken in Stams).

6 semesters (180 EC)

Final degree

'Bachelor of Education' with qualification to teach in primary schools.

KPH Edith Stein cooperates with various universities and colleges throughout Europe. Students of the BEd programme can do a credited semester abroad at one of our partner institutions.

The course is dedicated to the acquisition of professional teaching in secondary schools.

This course equips the students with competence in planning, organizing and evaluating classes in secondary schools. The student will be able to support and foster learning, to sense the special learning needs of pupils and to take on responsibility in the school sector. Evaluation of and constant research in developing teaching practices form a great part of the students training.

The final bachelor thesis and its defensio guarantee a tight connection of theory and practice.

Length of studies: 

6 semesters (180 EC)

Final Degree: 

Bachelor of Education (BEd) with the qualification to teach in secondary schools.

For a bachelor of education in the secondary sector students choose one core subject and one foundation subject.

Core Subjects (one is compulsory):

German, English, Mathematics

Foundation Subjects (one is compulsory):

Art, Biology and Environmental Science, Geography, History and Social Studies, Physical Education, Music, Physics and Chemistry, Textile Art, Design and Technology, Nutrition and Home Economics, Religious Studies (combined study programme with the Institute of Religious Studies)

The course is dedicated to the acquisition of theologic knowledge and pedagogic skills. Students develop the ability to experience a religious dimension in every day life, especially in the life of children and juveniles. The students develop their ability of judgement based on the knowledge of the Bible and religious tradition. In addition they become acquainted with the manifold conditions (anthropological, sociological, psychological, etc.) for faith and religion.

This course equips the students with competence in planning, organizing and evaluating classes in primary schools. The student will be able to support and foster learning, to sense the special learning needs of pupils and to take on responsibility in the school sector. Evaluation of and constant research in developing teaching practices form a great part of the students' training.
